2018 Leadership Award Winner: The Huber Family of The J.M. Huber Corporation
May 2018
Sam Huber, Molly Heaney, and Guy Cecala, representing the Huber family of the J.M. Huber Corporation, accepted the 2018 Kellogg Family Enterprise Leadership Award at an event at the Allen Center on the Northwestern University campus. Family business alumni, students, business leaders, other practitioners and faculty were in attendance.
A diversified, global enterprise, J.M. Huber Corporation was founded in 1883. The J.M. Huber Corporation enhances the performance of thousands of consumer and industrial products around the world. Products range from flame retardants that make buildings and electronics safer, to hydrocolloids that improve everything from foods to pharmaceuticals, engineered wood products that break new ground with residential and commercial builders, and sustainable forestry practices to help ensure the responsible stewardship of timberlands.
Their presentation entitled J.M. Huber: 135 Years of Stewardship, Leadership and Transition discussed how Huber Principles guide operations and decision-making and how those principles lead them to support customers, help one another, and improve the world for future generations.
Sam, Molly, and Guy shared their insights into the growing responsibilities of leading an enterprise in its sixth generation and the importance of trust, engagement, communications, and "being their best".
